The Department of the State Security Service (DSS) has refused to allow former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) to go home on bail, even after perfecting the third bail granted by an Abuja high court.

The DSS in a dramatic fashion on Tuesday night, took custody of Dasuki shortly after perfecting the third bail granted him by Justice Peter Affem after two other courts had done the same.

There is growing tension in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, between policemen and officers of the Department of State Services after two cops were shot on the premises of the DSS in Ado Ekiti, leading to the death of one of them.

It was gathered that the policemen, Sergeant Sylvester Malik and Corporal Mough Tergwu, were serving at the Special Protection Unit of the Nigeria Police Force in Lokoja, Kogi State.

DSS withdraws all charges against Radio Biafra director, Nnamdi Kanu

A Magistrate Court in Abuja has discharged the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, following the withdrawal of the charges proffered against him by the Department of State Services on Wednesday.

Counsel to the accused, Vincent Obeffa, told Channels Television that with the court’s ruling, the accused has no criminal cases against him in Nigeria or anywhere in the world and as such, he is a free man.

A counsel to the Department of State Services, DSS, Mosses Idakwo, on Monday told a Federal High Court in Abuja that the director of a pirate radio station, Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, was sponsoring terrorism against Nigeria.

Mr. Idakwo asked the court to disregard a bail application by Mr. Kanu’s counsel, Vincent Obeta, as the matter involving his client was terrorism-related.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested two out of five of its staff members for their alleged involvement in a N310 million robbery, a statement said in Abuja on Sunday.

The statement, issued by an operative of the service, Mr Tonu Opuiyo, said that the money belonged to a Bureau De Change operator in Abuja.

The Magistrate Court 1 sitting in Abuja has ordered the Department of State Service (DSS) to produce the Director of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, before it next week Monday.

The Chief Magistrate Shauibu Usman gave the order on Wednesday following the absence of the accused in court when the trial was to commence.

The presidency Wednesday dispelled the rumours making the rounds that personnel of the Directorate of Security Service (DSS) had been expelled from the Presidential Villa.

It said the insinuation was unfounded, baseless and with no iota of truth.
