Addressing newsmen, yesterday, in Nnewi, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Media and Publicity Officer, Mr. Emma Powerful alleged that the Federal Government through the DSS has perfected plans to systematically kill IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu in the DSS cell by denying him doctors’ attention and subjecting him to torture on daily basis.

“Information from a reliable DSS source revealed that the Federal Government is also planning to transfer Mr. Kanu to a particular cell in the country where members of Boko Haram are detained, and it is their plan to kill him there,” he said

One of the persons that contested for the throne of Obi of Onitsha, Chief Godwin Odukwe, has said that the leader of IPOB, and Director, Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu personally put himself into the trouble he is currently going through, saying that he does not have the right to breach the norms and the unity of Nigeria.

The Onitsha chief spoke as Nigerians continue to react to the continued incarceration of Kanu, despite the protests for his release, in South East and South South states by pro Biafra agitators.

In his submission on the president’s stance on the continued detention of Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd) and Nnamdi Kanu, Professor Itse Sagay, SAN argued that the Federal Government was not in violation of the rule of law as any bail granted an accused is completely related to the offence which he is charged before the court.

Buhari had in his first presidential media chat at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, adduced reasons why the Federal Government would not readily allow both Dasuki and Kanu to regain their freedom from detention.

Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, and some leading lawyers in the country have disagreed with the Presidential Committee on anti-corruption led by Professor Itse Sagay over President Muhammadu Buhari’s insistence that the former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu who are facing separate criminal charges, would not be released from custody, despite valid court orders that granted them bail.

Nnamdi Kanu has written President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria and Igbo elders apologizing for the derogatory or insulting statements he made about them.

The statement, dated October 23, 2015, was made while he was in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) and on the official letterhead of DSS.

Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and Director of Radio Biafra, had among others called President Buhari evil, a terrorist and a paedophile.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has described as blatant lies, the claim that its incarcerated leader and founder of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdui Kanu has expressed regrets and apologized to President Muhammadu Buhari, former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo elders for his alleged uncomplimentary remarks and statements against them to facilitate his release.

In a statement signed by IPOB National Coordinator Mr. Chidiebere Onwudiwe and Media and Publicity officer, comrade Emma Powerful, titled Nnamdi Kanu never apologized for his release, IPOB said it totally dismissed the publication, describing it as “the machinations of the Directorate of State Security, DSS to save its face having been disgraced by the court with granting of Kanu bail.

Judge excuses self from hearing treason charges against Nnamdi Kanu

A federal High Court judge has refused himself from hearing treason charges brought by the government against Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed announced the decision on Wednesday in Abuja after Mr. Kanu objected to the case, saying it was needless, as the federal government had repeatedly disobeyed previous court rulings.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr Nnamdi Kanu, has protested his trial before Justice Mohammed Ahmed of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Kanu, who is the founder of Radio Biafra, refused to take plea on a six count charge of treason, importation of illegal good and possession of fire arms filed against him by the Department of State Services on the ground that will not get fair trial.

The federal government has filed a fresh six-count charge against the Director of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, while refusing to comply with a ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja ordering his unconditional release last Thursday.

Kanu’s counsel, Mr. Vincent Obeta confirmed the latest development saying, the federal government filed the fresh charges on Friday, December 18, a day after Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court granted him unconditional bail.
