Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh invites Gbolahan Salami and 25 others

Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh has called 26 players including Nigerian league top scorer Gbolahan Salami for the first phase of camping ahead of the 2016 African Nations Championship billed for Rwanda. The list of the players was made public on Monday by the Nigeria Football Federation.

The Nigerian team have already been drawn into Group C of the competition alongside Niger Republic, Tunisia and Guinea, with matches to be played at the Stade Regional Nyamirambo in Kigali.

Vincent Enyeama quits Super Eagles; …retires from international football

Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has walked out of the squad to face DR Congo in a friendly on Wednesday and retired from international duty.

The 33-year-old’s decision came after coach Sunday Oliseh replaced him as captain with Ahmed Musa – only hours before the match in Verviers, Belgium.

Oliseh considers Iheanacho and Musa for AFCON qualifier in Tanzania

New Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh is seriously considering capping Flying Eagles stars Musa Mohammed and Kelechi Iheanacho in an AFCON qualifier in Tanzania in September.

A top team official informed AfricanFootball.com that Oliseh is rebuilding with the future in mind and as such he wants to start working immediately with Musa, Iheanacho as well as Moses Simon, who has already been capped by the Eagles.

Super Eagles’ midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has formally apologized to the Nigeria Football Federation for his on-field action that led to a straight red card in last month’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Chad in Kaduna.

In a letter dated 30th June, 2015 and addressed to the NFF General Secretary, the SS Lazio of Italy playmaker wrote: “Sequel to your letter REF: NFF/OGS/Admin/Vol.V/009, I hereby tender an unreserved apology with respect to my conduct which led to my dismissal in the game against Chad in Kaduna.
